China Youth DailyOn April 21, the 2026 Guangzhou Yuexiu District Intellectual Property Publicity Week was officially launched, during which participating representatives engaged in discussions on strengthening intellectual property protection in emerging fields.
At the event, the Yuexiu Service Station of the Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Center was officially inaugurated. The service station will focus on strategic emerging industries such as next-generation information technology and biopharmaceuticals, providing innovation entities with one-stop, tailored services including patent fast-track pre-examination, patent information retrieval, cultivation of high-value IP talent, and intellectual property rights protection assistance.
Meanwhile, the Guangdong Biopharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry Patent Pool Project was officially launched. Focusing on cutting-edge and emerging sectors such as biopharmaceuticals and high-end medical devices, the patent pool aims to integrate core industry patent resources and establish standardized patent licensing and transfer mechanisms. The initiative is expected to help enterprises reduce R&D risks, overcome patent barriers, accelerate the transformation of intellectual property into commercial assets, and further enhance the overall competitiveness of the regional biopharmaceutical and healthcare industry chain.
Yi Jiming, Member of the National Intellectual Property Expert Advisory Committee and Professor at Peking University Law School, was invited to deliver a keynote presentation. He analyzed the global intellectual property competition landscape, interpreted intellectual property portfolio strategies for frontier technologies, and elaborated on the intrinsic relationship between IP protection in emerging fields and the development of new quality productive forces.
